Mt Martha Netball Club is inviting families to join the Club for the 2020 Season.
Our club promotes fun and making friendships all whilst staying healthy, fit and developing Netball skills.
Winter Netball Season comprises of Saturday Competition Teams U9 Beginners, U9, U10, U11, U12, U13 and U15.
Grading Day for age groups U12 (year 6) through to U15 (year 9) is Saturday 1st February 2020 at the Mt Martha Primary School Gym.
These age groups represent those that are entered into graded competitions with MPNA.
Grading day consists of players trialling in their age group for up to 2 most favoured positions chosen by the player. Players will be graded according to ability by an independent MPNA Coach. Teams for Winter Competition are based on this grading process.
It is requested that all participants arrive 15 mins prior to commencement of allocated time in order to warm up. Times for age groups will be confirmed closer to the date.
Players (U12 - U15) unable to attend grading day must notify Grading Day supervisor via
shellxmo@outlook.com prior to 1st February.
There is no guarantee of placement into A team for players unable to attend grading day.
Registrations are to open for all age groups-

Grading Day Supervisor
Why do we grade?
The move from U11 (year 5) to U12 (year 6) represents the start of a more formal competition. MPNA introduces graded competitions with ladders and finals from U12.
By providing a graded competition MPNA aims to offer teams the opportunity to play against other teams of similar skill level so that players are better able to work on skills and strategy. This hopefully avoids one sided games which can be of little benefit for either team.
When Mt Martha Netball Club has enough players in a particular year level to field more than one team, the club also grades to ensure that teams have players of similar levels of netball skill development.
By having an evenly skilled team all players can contribute to the game without any player dominating and coaches are able to develop training that suits all players.
If a player misses out on a particular team this can be a reflection of the popularity of a specific position and the depth of skills of Mt Martha players.
For players in U15 which includes both year 8 and year 9 the club endeavours to keep teams in their school year levels rather than mixing across.
Thanks
Faye Marshall (Riley)
Mt Martha Netball Club President
